Deputies Fabricate Charge Against A Dad Objecting To His Child's Gender Transition
Sherburne County, MN law enforcement wants to silence our reporting
A Sherburne County, Minnesota Sheriff’s deputy provided false information under penalty of perjury in order to further the prosecution of a man for appearing in a podcast with The Distance reporting on the secret transition of his child.
A warrant application obtained by The Distance and signed by Sgt. Austin Turner on 11 December 2024 indicates serious deception in the formulation of malicious charges against Mr. Brent Bowlby. These charges are clearly aimed at punishing him for our coverage of his story.
Since that time, a Minnesota court has enjoined Mr. Bowlby against contact of his ex-partner by third parties, holding him responsible for our communications, effectively restraining The Distance from further reporting on serious allegations of public corruption. In constitutional law, this is called “prior restraint.”
