Hands down, the worst news this week was that a rape survivor got refused complex, life-saving cancer surgery because a male employee with a “gender identity” apparently had some hurt feelings about her requirement for same-sex aftercare. It’s bad enough that Princess Grace Hospital put a man’s feelings ahead of a woman’s life, worse watching the usual men’s rights activists celebrate such a nauseating display of misogyny through their blue check Twitter accounts.
As awful as the story is, however, Princess Grace went too far. Consequences will follow. A woman’s life has been put in danger by trans ideology in clear contradiction of UK law, creating substantial legal exposure that once again isolates the role of policy capture. Baronness Nicholson is on the case and will have some pointed questions. There is also a petition. The wheels of justice grind slower than cancer, but they do grind exceedingly fine.
LABOUR IN VEIN: Political turmoil in Britain has the Labour Party calling for an election they think they can win. As James Esses explains, that result would be catastrophic for a national mental health profession that is already bleeding credibility on all things “trans.”
I have spoken extensively on the risks of including ‘gender identity’ in a ban on conversion therapy. It may force therapists to engage in an ‘affirmation-only’ approach, going against the core tenet of psychotherapy of not having a pre-determined outcome. It will have a chilling effect on the profession, as has been seen in jurisdictions abroad. Furthermore, it is based on flawed research and has the effect of conflating gender dysphoria, a mental health condition, with sexuality. This all poses a risk to vulnerable children with gender dysphoria who are in need of explorative therapy.
THERAPIST THOUGHT-POLICE: This whistleblower says that Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio is deliberately creating “therapists” focused on curing “Trump voters” of their supposed prejudices.
Counselors are being taught not to be objective and neutral with their clients, but rather to view the emotionally vulnerable people who come to see them as opportunities to imprint and spread "Social Justice" ideology. In this video I provide shocking examples of the current state of counselor training at an American university.
Now, I am not a therapist, just an historian, but that sounds very Soviet Union mental health system to me. Antioch College has been a private progressive Christian institution since its 19th Century founding. As I keep saying, the roots of wokeness lie in the American liberal religious tradition. Yes, Marxism and radicalism are influential within that tradition, but so are prophets and preachers.
ACTIVISTS ANSWER: With a midterm election around the corner, Matt Yglesias tells Democrats some home truths, for example that their primary technology is less useful than it used to be.
{T]he answers-polls electorate is to the left of the votes-in-elections electorate, so Democrats keep getting a skewed read of the landscape and miscalibrating their own races. The actual country is simply less-educated, lower in social trust and openness to experience, and more right-wing than the country that shows up in surveys. Democrats can win those voters; they just need to realize the practical necessity of doing it.
SEX DIFFERENCES EXIST: Human hand-shaking behavior is transphobic.
Handgrip strength correlated negatively with neuroticism and positively with extraversion in men, and negatively with agreeableness in women. The relationship of handgrip strength and neuroticism in men remained after controlling for the influence of age and body mass index. We conclude that handgrip strength provides information about male neuroticism. We discuss our findings with reference to recent reports on male quality correlates of strength.
WE EVEN DIE DIFFERENT: Cancer is also transphobic.
LIBERAL LAUGHTER IN AN ECHO CHAMBER: Comedy writer Jeff Maurer responds to Jon Stewart. He wrote this before his own former show host John Oliver aired a similar pean to the child sterilization cult. Still liberal and heterodox himself, Maurer still sees that both hosts have become the hacks they once despised.
Think often people forget just how good the arguments for gay rights were. The case for gay marriage — which ultimately ended up being a gigantic winner — it drew on core liberal principles like freedom of association and equal rights. It called for gay people to be allowed access to a social institution (marriage) that most people value. The argument was one that people found ultimately very familiar, and they found it sound, and Americans overwhelmingly support gay marriage today. And I don’t think the arguments made by people like Jon Stewart on various trans issues are nearly as good.
PUBERTY IS NOT A DISEASE: Steven A. Richards spent eight years in a transgender identity before he detransitioned.
When I was a 15-year-old and transitioning to female, strangers on the internet encouraged me to start puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones as soon as possible before my body was “poisoned” by puberty. I was cheered along in my transition, and the most cheers always came when I posted pictures of myself in women’s clothing — the skimpier, the better. At the time, I craved the attention. It made me feel good about myself when not much in my life did. I was exactly the kind of lonely, vulnerable boy internet pedophiles like to prey on, and I consider myself lucky I never met any of my adult “friends” in person. Their version of self-actualization was destroying their bodies for sexual fulfillment, and they wanted to convince children to do the same.
TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCES: Spanish government plans to let 12 year-olds sterilize themselves are getting pushback from the national medical community — and putting pressure on the Socialist Party’s governing coalition.
On Tuesday, the country’s mass market newspaper El Mundo splashed the story on its front page with the headline: “Psychiatrists and Endocrinologists warn: the Trans Law will bring pain and many will regret it”.
Sub-headings include: “There is an avalanche of adolescents who believe they are trans and the majority are not”; and “What do we do with someone whose penis has been cut off and wants it back?”
A LESBIAN TAKES PRIDE: Observing Calgary Pride over the years, Eva Kurilova chronicles their collective descent into madness and the genesis of her own dissent from the “progress flag” army.
I knew deep down that something was not quite right. Later that day, I looked up the Calgary Fake Mustache Drag King Troupe website. It turned out that almost every member was going through a transition. That gave me pause, and it was my first exposure to the social contagion aspect of transition, especially among young women.
UNPOSSIBLE: Thousands of social media users have given me their utmost assurances that no rapist would ever “identify” as a woman in order to access vulnerable women. This thing supposedly never happens, cannot happen, and yet it has happened. Is happening. Keeps happening.

DON’T CALL IT GROOMING: This is the world that the “be kind” brigade wants.

NONVERBALS AND NARCISSISM: Yesterday I noted on Twitter that Dylan Mulvaney is twice as creepy when you watch him with the sound off, and several people who tried it responded in the affirmative. I have made similar observations about Jeffrey Marsh. So what happens when you put these peas in a pod? Here is a keen analysis of that moment:
SPEAKING OF NARCISSISM: Is it really a coincidence that “trans,” a movement rife with narcissistic display, seems to conquer most completely wherever superficiality is supreme? Maybe magazine covers, fashion, pageants, and now the makeup industry were always really the most natural places for men obsessed with their own image to go looking for “validation.”

KC MILLER HAS A SUBSTACK: A detransitioner who recently went viral, and received the usual wave of hateful ignorance from apologists of the trans cult in response, has started her own Substack, and guess what, turns out to be a pretty good writer.
