Gender Docket: Tracking Lawsuits Against Medical Transition In US Courts
Justice wheels turn slow, grind exceeding fine
Last week, Layla Jane aka Kayla Lovdahl became the second American to seek legal redress for a pediatric gender transition.
Jane “is seeking justice against the Permanente Medical Group, Kaiser Foundation Hospitals, and the clinicians who facilitated her transition from age 12 to 17,” Christina Buttons reported at Reality’s Last Stand. “This process included puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and a double mastectomy performed when she was just 13 years old.”
Jane is the second “gross negligence” tort in America related to pediatric “gender affirmation.” Chloe Cole, another resident of California, was the first.
However, Camille Kiefel in Oregon, an adult at the time of her transition, was the first American to litigate the issue. Currently, there are three active cases in US courts by two different legal firms. According to Buttons, there are eight cases worldwide.
