Mayor of Port Townsend, WA Gloats After Silencing Uppity Women with a Violent Mob
Taking pride in racism, misogyny
One of the angry men who heckled and assaulted a group of women holding a press conference in Port Townsend, Washington last night was holding a noose. One of the women he harassed was Gabrielle Clark, an African American woman.
Today, the mayor of Port Townsend has been patting himself on the back for a job well done. David J. Faber is very happy with the new image of his town as a welcoming, inclusive place.
Behold, the face of progressive activism! It looks just like a regular white supremacist, but with pastel rainbows.
As The Distance was first to report after the conclusion of the #LetJulieSwim livestream last night, 80 year-old Julie Jaman’s reasonable request to shower at the YMCA without being observed by men made a small crowd of men very angry. So angry that police were called to the scene.
Thereafter, a surreal, orchestrated transgender appreciation event unfolded inside of City Hall. Participants spoke of the harms inflicted on transgender people by a transphobic world. They denounced Julie and Gabrielle and Amy Sousa, the press conference organizers, as bigots doing harm to harmless people. Because no one with “gender” would ever hurt anyone, surely!
Staff of the Port Townsend Free Press were on hand to witness the uglyness. In fact, they called the police to intervene when they worried the violence was getting out of hand. This first-hand report from Jim Scarantino is harrowing.
An angry white crowd screaming at a Black woman pleading for civil rights. Threatening her. Intimidating her. Senior women linking arms to protect a rape survivor trying to speak. A lesbian being shouted down by a mostly male mob decked out in Pride colors. A man with an AR-15 imposed over a Trans flag on his ball cap, the impression of a handgun in his left cargo pants pocket, hiding behind sunglasses and a mask that made identification difficult.
This was the face of rage and hate Port Townsend showed to women who asked for equal rights, to have their spaces respected, to be able to go to the bathroom and showers in pubic facilities and not suffer PTSD flashbacks from memories of being raped and assaulted because there is an adult male human being where they once could feel safe.
When he relaxed at home late that night, Mayor Faber was aglow with his success as a city leader. Terfs owned!

Faber awoke to find that the headline story from Port Townsend is not his solemn gender faith ceremony that took place inside City Hall, but the violence that took place outside it.
\Nevertheless, he is pushing ahead, and now when asked about the reception that uppity women (“terfs”) get in Port Townsend, he pretends that he doesn’t know what the questioner is talking about.
Mayor Faber is clearly still pleased with himself at this hour. He thinks that this is all looking good for him and making his town look good. He is wrong. It may take him some time yet to figure that out, but he will.
