Mismarginalized: Courts Coddling Violent Criminals With Preferred Pronouns
And prosecutors giving 'trans' defendants special breaks
Jaia Cruz, the transgender-identified man who stabbed a postal worker to death over a cut line at a deli counter in Harlem, has received a special plea deal from the office of progressive Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg.
According to the New York Post, Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Clerkin told Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Gregory Carro that Cruz “expresses remorse and has asked to accept responsibility for [Hodge’s] death” in January.
Clerkin then asked the court to accept a plea deal reducing Cruz’s sentence from 25 years for second-degree murder to just 15 years for manslaughter. Cruz, who is 24, will also be on supervised release for five years. Sentencing is scheduled for the end of May.
Female inmates will face less time being forced to share prison space with Cruz. This is the only silver lining to the story.
Ada Rice, mother of the victim, Ray Hodge III, said afterwards that the family had opposed the plea deal and she is now “very upset” with the judicial system. “Initially, the DA told me that there would be no plea deal because they said they saw the video and [that they’re] satisfied,” Rice told reporters.
Rice also wonders why Cruz has not recieved the usual level of attention that the justice system gives an alleged killer like Cruz. “I’m upset this person wasn’t charged federally,” she said. Her son, who was 36 and leaves behind two children, “died in a federal uniform, which makes him a federal employee.”
“She’s going to get out early and kill again,” Ada Rice predicted to the Post. Even Rice uses the preferred pronoun of the man who killed her son. After all, it would be ‘actual murder’ if she ‘misgendered’ poor Jaia Cruz. Such hatred would have to be punished immediately and severely by the nearest trans-affirming organization.
According to witnesses, when Cruz was arrested, he was standing over Hodge, who was on the ground bleeding to death, declaring that the dead man “deserved it.” Just to drive home the consequences of non-preferred pronouns, the New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) proclaimed Cruz a “criminalized survivor” three days after the Manhattan DA announced charges against him.
According to the AVP, the murder was “a fatal incident” with disputed accounts of responsibility. “Following her identification, Ms. Cruz has experienced anti-trans harassment online and, [sic] in the media, with her physical attributes and gender identity being weaponized, attacked and invalidated,” AVP whined. Actual murder!
In the press release, issued five days after Donald Trump’s inauguration, AVP declared that “transgender people, specifically women, are experiencing spikes in fatal and non-fatal hate violence in addition to politically motivated rhetoric and legislation that has reached new levels of danger,” such as misgendering of murderers.
Jaia Cruz is the real victim here, you see, because he “had regularly experienced hate violence and harassment in public throughout our city.” He was “viciously attacked and beaten on the street in broad daylight” in a viral video during 2024, so that cancels out any stabbings he may have committed. He was justified by his rage against the misgendering machine.
AVP “calls for due process absent of misgendering, mocking, and dehumanization of Ms. Cruz, as her treatment displays flagrant cis-supremacy, misogynoir, and transmisogyny.” Translation: everyone must play pretend-time with Cruz all the time, or else they deserve whatever they get.
Alvin Bragg does not serve the families of victims. He serves the progressive omnicause, and transgender identity is the new sacred class on the left. Blackness too has been deprecated — unless it intersects with transness, in which case someone like Cruz becomes the most marginalized community of all.
AVP is very concerned that “trans women of color” were the victims in “78% of fatal hate violence” last year. Of course, almost all of them were sex workers, and all of their killers were black men. But why would anyone dwell on the massive biological sex difference in human propensity for violence when there is a “community” (read: well-heeled lobby) demanding sweetheart plea deals and implying that failure to wear kid gloves will be met with a “deserved” murder at the hands of a man who calls himself a woman?
Below is a video by Sean Alexander aka Actual Justice Warrior. I like Sean’s videos. He’s been calling out the pro-criminal lobbies for years and covering the consequences of rampant crime in communities. Sean keeps referring to “the transes” in his videos, and from what I can tell, he is not a fan of gender identity ideology.
However, Sean is also not versed in the ideology of ‘trans’ or gender criticism, so he doesn’t quite understand at the terfy gut-level that he is covering the purest possible distillation of the Thing he talks about all the time. Jaia Cruz is a violent man who enjoys the benefits of his political class. More examples are below the fold.
