'Moderate' Virginia Democrats Want To Legalize Immigrant Rape Gangs, Now

During her first 24 hours as the governor of Virginia, Abigail Spanberger announced that she will rejoin something called the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), imposing a regressive energy tax on Virginians. This is just one new expensive virtue signal coming from Richmond, where Democrats want new retail delivery taxes on every order from Uber Eats, investment taxes on everyone who owns stock in Uber Eats, higher sales taxes for everyone who buys their own food, and two new high income tax brackets for everyone who owns a business.
Lawncare businesses will be particularly hard-hit in the new regime. Democrats want to ban gas leaf blowers and lawn mowers while raising taxes on electric ones that weigh more and do less work. To compensate, Spanberger immediately suspended all jailhouse cooperation with ICE, increasing the pool of cheap labor available at Home Depot parking lots. It is no coincidence that in ‘sanctuary’ states and cities, ICE always finds criminal aliens looking for day work in those locations rather than getting regular jobs. Most employers do not want to hire criminal aliens, so Democrats aim to punish them with taxes.
Democrats are hardly performing the part of ‘moderates’ picked out for them by legacy media and they do not seem to care about consequences at all. Spanberger received endless praise for saying the word “affordability” and post-election analysis focused on a supposed “affordability crisis” shaping the result. Likewise, Spanberger was positioned as the “moderate” all over the media. Day One of her administration exposed both lies.
The coddling of criminals predominates the concerns of the new Virginia Democrats. At least one proposal to fund childcare in Virginia smells like the Somali fraud scheme in Minnesota, Massachusetts, California, Maine, Ohio, and other states. HB244 would lower punishment and sentencing for robbery while another bill would remove qualified immunity from police, essentially gutting their authority and destroying the profession in Virginia. Democrats will get most of what they want because they enjoy a trifecta, control of all three branches of government, and Spanberger is radical enough to sign everything they pass.
In that light, the most disturbing initiative of the new state house is HB863, which would end all mandatory minimum sentences for rape, manslaughter, assaulting a law enforcement officer, possession and distribution of child pornography, and all repeat violent felonies. This last category is the most striking, since putting repeat offenders in prison for longer sentences has been proven to reduce crime. Democrats are pursuing an objectively pro-violent crime agenda.
But the true horrific totality of this assault on common sense and civilized decency can only be seen once we recognize that the end goal is something like the current state of policing in Britain. What Virginia Democrats clearly intend, with Spanberger’s leadership, is the effective legalization of immigrant rape gangs. Rotherham is just five seconds away from happening in Richmond.
All the necessary elements are already proposed as legislation or enacted by the governor. If Democrats get everything they want, criminal aliens will be protected from deportation, free to rob and rape Virginians at no risk, since Virginia police will be discouraged from even risking another arrest and there would be no point, anyway. Crime victims can simply stop reporting crimes, since the perpetrators will not be punished, and then the reported crime rate will be zero. Success!
This is what comes of oppositional politics. Trump is extreme, so Democrats get to be as bad as they want to be. “I fear Democrats are going down the same path” that the GOP went down under Obama, Rep. Jared Golden of Maine wrote in his retirement announcement after the November special election. “We’re allowing the most extreme, pugilistic elements of our party to call the shots.” Affected by threats to his own family, disgusted by the Democrats’ shutdown tactics, Golden said “I don’t fear losing. What has become apparent to me is that I now dread the prospect of winning.”
Joe Biden failed to restore normalcy as promised. Having run as a moderate, he made a hard left turn once in office. Having watched him fail, the hip young progressives have abandoned the return to normal and embraced a maximalist program. Zohran Mamdani promised them gender communist utopia, said he would lower the rent through Marxist means, and won their enthusiasm.
However, the new Democrats have been rising in the party for some time. California’s next Senator will be Scott Wiener, a Democrat who pushed legislation to make it legal to give someone AIDS. Even more destructive will be the Democrats controlling local school boards so they can enact transgressive policies in the locker room, restroom, and library. None of this is exactly ‘moderate’ by any usual definition of that word.
Democrats get tremendous mileage out of a false image of moderation, framing their Republican opponents as the “weird” ones. Indeed, many blame Spanberger’s victory on her opponent’s debate performance: Winsome Earle-Sears would not stop pressing the point that Spanberger’s views on transgender ‘inclusion’ are extreme, so she became the ‘extreme’ candidate of the two. Naturally, Democrats had spent the whole campaign framing Sears as an extremist.
Last November, there were alarm bells that independents were souring on Trump. In general, however, voters who dislike both parties simply always tend to vote for the party that is not in the White House at the time. That rule does not hold when the out-party manages to make itself noxious to voters. Democrats can achieve this if they want to. Despite holding a nationwide generic ballot lead, the public actually thinks less of them.
Candidates matter, of course, and Republicans have still not figured out a unifying formula to replace Trump. Indeed, at the very moment conservatives ought to have been focused on getting out the vote in Virginia, they were utterly distracted by self-promoting podcasters chasing algorithmic gold over the corpse of Charlie Kirk. One message they should all come together on, now, is that Democrats are not a moderate party. The Democrats’ agenda is radical and their juvenile statism can only make life harder, not more affordable. The ads write themselves.
Above all, the new rule must be that any politician who claims to believe that children can be born in the wrong bodies is telling you that they will also lie about absolutely anything else, that the only thing we can trust them to do is lie to our faces and stab us in the back as soon as they are in power. Democrats who think it is fine for a man to be in your daughter’s locker room at the pool will also bend over backwards to help a gang of criminal aliens rob her, rape, and kill her — all while they blame Donald Trump. There is nothing moderate about such people.
