Plastic Surgeons Unsettle The Scientific 'Consensus' For Pediatric Sex Lobotomy
One detransition lawsuit and four days late
Just days after a New York jury delivered a $2 million verdict in the world’s first detransition lawsuit, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) issued new guidelines to limit ‘gender affirming’ surgeries to patients who are at least 19 years old.
Media cope was instant. “Fewer than 1,000 minors in the United States receive such surgeries every year, according to research published in JAMA, the American Medical Association’s journal, and the vast majority of the procedures are mastectomies, not genital surgeries”, Paige Winfield Cunningham writes at The Washington Post.
Oh! So they were all just useless healthy breasts being lopped off, rather than the precious cocks-and-balls? Well that’s fine, then, apparently. But what is this Ms. Cunningham says about minors having surgeries? Because I was repeatedly assured for at least a decade that this never happens.
The Human Rights Campaign, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group, says in some rare cases, teenagers under 18 have received transition surgeries “in order to reduce the impacts of significant gender dysphoria, including anxiety, depression, and suicidality.”
The American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend transition surgeries primarily for adults but say adolescents can receive them on a case-by-case basis.
The data presented in the article ends at 2020 and accounts for “hundreds” of cases. This thing which never, ever happens has by now happened to an unknown number of thousands of “rare” children. We are now supposed to believe these kids were each treated as wonderful, unique individuals according to some scientific program.
They were in fact chattel in a factory line profit-model that intentionally harms gay kids to make them look straight. Now the people who assured us that this thing never, ever happens agree that it should not happen anymore — and we all know exactly what changed.
To be scrupulously fair, ASPS never actually endorsed pediatric gender medicine (PGM) in the first place. By their own telling, however, this neutral view has turned negative due to a growing body of evidence that the supposed benefits do not justify the risks.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued a statement commending ASPS. HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. praised them for “for standing up to the overmedicalization lobby and defending sound science” to “protect future generations of American children from irreversible harm.”
“When the medical ethics textbooks of the future are written, they’ll look back on sex-rejecting procedures for minors the way we look back on lobotomies,” Dr. Mehmet Oz said. “I applaud the American Society of Plastic Surgeons for placing itself on the right side of history by opposing these dangerous, unscientific experiments.”
You can read the ASPS position statement here. “Systematic reviews and evidence reassessments have subsequently identified limitations in study quality, consistency, and follow-up alongside emerging evidence of treatment complications and potential harms.” Who wrote this thing, J.K. Rowling?!
Respect for emerging adolescent autonomy is also cited as a rationale for the provision of care in the face of low certainty evidence. However, patient autonomy is more properly defined as the right of a patient to accept or refuse appropriate treatment; it does not create an obligation for a physician to provide interventions in the absence of a favorable risk–benefit profile, particularly in adolescent populations where decision-making capabilities are still developing. In pediatric contexts, the threshold for intervention must be higher and safeguards more stringent.
The ‘trans child’ was invented, not discovered. No one ever did a study that identified a population of children ‘born in the wrong body’. Instead, the ‘trans child’ was discursively constructed and impressed upon us all. Extraordinary demands were laid on all of society to accommodate this new kind of child in the world.
Sports for girls now had to include boys, because trans kids. Restrooms for one sex had to include the other sex, because trans kids. Women’s prisons had to include rapists, because trans kids. Everything was justified by the alleged existence of adult identities in children. It was all projection.
The false consensus for pediatric sex lobotomy is breaking. The cultural center cannot hold. We all knew this would happen, we critics of genderwoo, because we knew it was harmful fraud all the way down. The moment of truth is here, one detransition lawsuit and four days late.

Best news I’ve heard in a long time!
Yes, this is fantastic news. This should really dampen enthusiasm among plastic surgeons for performing these child mutilations: their own professional organization now explicitly advises against them. That will make it oh so much harder for an individual surgeon to defend peforming them anyway.
It also gives other US med orgs an impetus to join the plastic surgeons in running for cover. It's so much easier to be a follower than a leader. Still, though, I'm not expecting an immediate stampede: the religious cult beliefs and the profit motive are both powerful forces holding back a return to some semblance of sanity.
