Why is this Man Allowed to Watch Girls Pee, Women Shower at the YMCA Pool?
Meet Clementine Adams, a man
Here at The Distance, we do not recognize any difference between a man watching your elderly mother shower and a man named Clementine Adams (seen above) watching your elderly mother shower, so we are not using his preferred pronouns.
If this is too much for you to bear, stop reading now, go get your elderly mother, and take a group shower with him together at the YMCA.
By the way, Clementine is sexually attracted to females. He says so right in his social media profiles. Happy showering!
Julie Jaman, an 80 year-old woman, was recently banned from her community pool in Port Townsend, Washington because she objected to the presence of Clementine Adams, who prefers to be known as “Clem,” in the bathing area while she showered.
At the moment Julie Jaman contronted Adams, he was supervising “four or five” grade school girls while they stripped their swimsuits off to pee.
YMCA staff subsequently banned Jaman from the pool for “discrimination,” sparking a community backlash.
Our coverage at The Distance brought national attention to this story last week:
Experienced observers of the special-gendered will guess what happened next. Reasonable requests for accommodation were deemed “transphobic.”
Unsatisfied with simply banning Julie from the pool, the YMCA began their usual smear campaign against women who complain about a policy of “inclusion” that permits heterosexual men to observe naked females of all ages as they shower and use the toilet.
The Port Townsend Free Press reports that “the Y is now … launching a character assassination campaign against [Julie] with unspecified allegations that she has a history of bad conduct that led to her banishment.”
Jaman, who has been swimming at Mountain View for 35 years, says she’s never been informed of any infractions. The Y has not responded to her request for details and documentation of these alleged incidents. The Y has also not responded to our request for details to verify their claims to media that Jaman was a problem before she objected to encountering Adams in the women’s showering area.
Julie Jaman is not a litigious person. Nor are we giving legal advice here. However, experience suggests that the YMCA’s unspecified and proofless allegations would not withstand libel scrutiny. One of these days, that is going to get them in real trouble.
More importantly, the YMCA has chosen to double-down on this policy of exclusion because a well-heeled rainbow “community” pays them so much better than memberships.
Go ahead, cancel your membership. Thousands already have. The YMCA doesn’t care. Yes, the staff knows that Clementine is intact and heterosexual. They knew when the incident happened. There is little excuse for them not to have known.
As the Free Press explains, “the information about Adams being interested in women, despite his choice of clothing and makeup, was and is available to his employer.”
Worse, the Free Press says, the YMCA is getting the law wrong. Someone has given them poor legal advice. This, too, is no surprise to anyone who has paid attention to the “gender identity” lobby. Terrible legal advice is just part of the package:
The Olympic Peninsula manages the pool under an agreement with the pool’s owner, the City of Port Townsend. The Y says it is merely following state law. But no state law authorizes an employer to send men into women’s shower areas while women and girls are naked, and then banish women for objecting. As we explained in our first installment on this controversy, the state law upon which the Y relies did not grant rights to Adams. It protected Jaman. It is the Y that violated the state law protecting Jaman’s right to use to facilities consistent with her gender identity and expression.
Julie’s specific thought crime was to ask Mr. Adams whether he had a penis.
“None of your business,” was his reply. However, having a penis turns out to be very much Clementine’s business, by which we mean it is the thing he uses to appeal to strangers on the internet for money.
According to his Go Fund Me, Mr. Adams has raised $6,739 towards his $25,000 goal, ostensibly for surgeries to soften his voice and invert his penis.
However, the language of the appeal has been updated to cash in on the current news coverage, and some of the wording makes his commitment to the full monty of surgical reconstruction seem…sketchy?
Boldface ours:
Hi, my name is Clementine. I’m a college student, and I plan on majoring in Elementary Education! Being trans isn’t about changing, it’s about living my truth. In part of doing so, I'm seeking gender affirmative surgeries.
This fund was originally just intended for two important surgeries I wanted. They’re called Vaginoplasty (aka Bottom Surgery) and Feminizing Laringoplasty (aka Vocal Surgery). It’s become apparent to me however that my financial need for my transition expands beyond that. Especially considering the recent incident, I need the help funding my transition more broadly.
I previously committed to donating extra funds to other charities and fundraisers myself, but after a lot of consideration I’m amending this. If you wish to support the community after I hit my goal set on here, please donate to other charities or fundraisers. I think this is much more practical than my previous commitment.
Thank you to everyone who has donated to the fund before these updates. You’ve all made a difference in a time where my safety and privacy are at jeopardy. The international coverage is overwhelming, and your support has been a meaningful silver lining to it all.
All sorts of possibilities present themselves to the gender-informed observer. (Believe me when I say we have all practically earned PhDs in “gender identity” around here.) A creative young man in the prime of adolescent sexuality, “Clem” exhibits evidence of self-harm right in his face.
His character is unknown to us. We cannot read the mind of Clementine Adams or search through his browsing history. All we can do is apply the typology of transsexualism and conclude that a young heterosexual man is passing through an experimental phase (imagine that, youthful phases!) with an uncertain outcome.
That uncertainty is what permits this madness at the YMCA. It is the fundamental quantum proposition that “gender identity” poses whenever it attacks our boundaries.
Ask Americans whether a “trans woman” named Clementine should be allowed to pee and shower with the girls at the YMCA, and some number will say yes because they visualize someone who has already been through full vaginoplasty procedures, or who is definitely bound to undergo them.
That is not true of Clementine, at least not yet. However, the new political correctness demands he be treated as if it was already true, rendering the question irrelevant, and therefore “discriminatory.”
Public opinion questions reflect this dissonance. Ask Americans whether “an intact man” named Clementine should be allowed to pee and shower with the girls at the YMCA, and only a tiny minority will say yes.
Last week, we posted video of the full public comment period from the 1 August Port Townsend city council meeting. They heard from Julie, her supporters, and a few people who were very determined to let Clementine watch women shower and girls pee at the YMCA.
Under that video, we offered a poll. It’s just a stupid internet poll. Yet despite the video being viewed thousands of times now, no one, not even one anonymous internet troll, has bothered to vote “yes” to the question: should men be allowed to watch women shower and girls pee at the YMCA?
Not one.
“Gender identity” activists understand perfectly that their demands are unpopular. It is why they prefer to lobby organizations such as the YMCA and governments like Port Townsend from the inside, out of public view, skipping any public debate: “this is not a debate!”
They must, because irrational tautologies like “trans women are women” do not survive logical scrutiny. Instead, they must be imposed as the new moral orthodoxy from the top down, in secret, so that they can be hauled forth and enforced on Julie Jaman with the pomp and arrogance of a Laudian bishop.
All of this is supposed to be justified because Clementine is “in danger.” But the only real danger to Clementine is that he will follow through with vaginoplasty.
Clementine should try some sex with another consenting adult first, before having a “sex change” that will destroy his ability to ever enjoy any sex with anyone, ever.
Statistically speaking, though, it is unlikely that Clementine will follow through with vaginoplasty. Firm numbers are impossible to find, since the gender industry does not want to do actual science, but we can extract from available data that somewhere between 70 and 90 percent of men who identify as transgender opt to keep their penises.
Surgical expense is clearly no barrier. They keep their penises because they are men.
This is one of the realities that transgender activism works hardest to conceal. By glomming on to LGB issues like a vampire squid and expanding the alphabet to confuse everyone, they obscure material harm to the rights of women and girls in their blinkered push for intact males to have access to female spaces.
Is Clementine Adams serious about sex change? Is this a passing phase? Or is Clementine claiming to have a transgender soul-being just so he can raise extra money for college and enjoy eyeball access to female bodies at the YMCA pool?
I don’t know, you don’t know. Nobody knows. That is exactly the point. Until 2015, the normal safeguarding standard was “no men in the women’s areas at the YMCA” and it worked fine. Activists with fat wallets complicated that system on purpose, with premeditation, to let the Clementine Adamses of the world have whatever it is they want, whenever they want, without question.
Adults did this to Clementine. They told him this was okay and a healthy way to be. He is finding out that they lied. For that, he stands blameless.
But he should learn to stay out of the women’s showers and let a female employee supervise the little girls as they pee. Holding Clementine to that sensible standard is neither hateful nor phobic of anything.
