To date, the true nature of the phenomenon known as “gender identity” remains nebulous to our human understanding.

Sure, people “express” themselves in various ways that cultures decide are “masculine” or “feminine.” In that sense, “gender” is a performance, just as Judith Butler argues.

A discursive, or inhabited, construction. A state of mind in the person. A feeling. A spirit. A state of belief in one’s own narrative of being. You know. Bullshit.

And yet it does actually measure the flow of electrical current through the human dermis, so there is some sort of sciency-thing going on which the person being audited can be convinced to regard as evidence of profound inner truths. No objective evidence exists that “gender identity” exists outside of a person’s mind. Transition “medicine” relies on self-reported feelings for diagnosis and satisfaction with appearance for measuring results. Ka-ching, profit!

“Gender identity” does not even have something like the E-meter that can pretend to detect or measure it. As a practical matter, there is more actual science for the ‘body thetans’ of L. Ron Hubbard than for ‘gender identity’ as a coherent material phenomenon.

For all of its various terrible abuses, the Church of Scientology doesn’t sterilize children, or remove their healthy sex organs. Its ideology is objectively less harmful to children than ‘gender identity.’ Yet we see more objective supporting evidence for Hubbardism than Genderism, if we squint hard enough to see any at all.

We demand that the cult of endocrine quackery produce objective evidence that they are not just sterilizing children to create “trans kids” out of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and other “gender nonconforming” children. We demand evidence that ‘gender identities’ are any more material to our being than body thetans. We demand objective evidence that gender thetans exist.

Gender identity is subjective and ephemeral. It defies calls for objective evidence of the claim to an inner gendered being. “Gender affirmation” substitutes the simulacra of sex for the reality of sexed existence. In nature, this is called sex mimicry. Sex mimics are neither a gender nor a sex. They are mimics.

We are human beings evolved to know, and want, the difference of the two human sexes. We do not submit to this gaslighting, quasi-religious revision of our sex-based human rights.

Critical theory and Queer theory dispute even the possibility of objective evidence, invoking “lived experience” instead of anything which might be held as a standard of evidence. Mimics, these schools of supposed learning tell us, are just as real as the real thing they mimic.

Proof of this absurdity is a “lived and felt experience” that cannot be falsified. A new past is constructed retroactively to explain how someone “always knew” they were “different” (read: special) in childhood. Likewise, Scientology auditing discursively constructs a memory of the past associated with the supposed malign influences of invisible body thetans. It is all pretentious pseudoscientific bullshit.

We anticipate two responses here. First, some readers will doubtless complain that we are devaluing the human experiences of other people. This is backwards. We are exhausted from pushing back against an ideology that is alien to our own human experiences, so if our words seem harsh or our pronouns unkind to Dylan Mulvaney, we don’t care, and you cannot make us care.

We used up all of our empathy on transwidows recovering from abuse, women housed in prison cells with men, women and girls being cheated out of their sports, lesbians subject to coercive “cotton ceiling” rhetoric, detransitioners recovering from the iatrogenic harms of chasing the gender dragon, parents of children captured by the “glitter family,” feminists cancelled and harassed and unpersoned for objecting to male supremacy in wigs and lipstick, and the countless “trans people” who will enjoy shorter lives thanks to all the myriad complications of poisoning yourself with carcinogenic hormones for many years.

All our empathy is used up, sorry. We don’t have any left for pornsick men or simpering pseudofeminists or blithering sophists. No one asked us whether the drag queens twerking for preschoolers was a good idea, so we are just not going to feel bad about the reactionary results.
