Because her talent has never lived up to her birthright as Hollywood royalty, actress Drew Barrymore was perfect in the role of Dylan Mulvaney’s support human, passing the baton to a new generation of self-made gender royalty.

Wearing trousers and a suit coat, Barrymore knelt before the male influencer as the supplicant, “queering” the visual tableau of a submissive female stoking a man’s ego. Even the set background of Barrymore’s show, evoking the Mad Men aesthetic of a corporate office, was perfect. The patriarchy has been restored to us, ladies. Rejoice.
