Fascinating piece, Matt. Has anyone tried to reach the family to find out how they got into the activists' sights?

No one that I know. If I was at the scene, or somewhere near, I would be all over this.

And now an activist teacher and an apparent romantic partner say that "Nex" went by "he/him" and was a transgender man. https://www.nbcnews.com/nbc-out/out-news/vigil-friends-remember-nex-benedict-fiery-kid-rcna140440 (And NBC dutifully uses he/him pronouns.)

It's a cult.

The gay boyfriend, the activist mom, they're in a cult.

Is it a "gay boyfriend" or another teenage girl who "identifies as" a gay boy?

No one knows because NBC News uses the cult language.

I'm just glad I don't live in a country where one even needs to consider the possibility of dying from "mutual combat" (wtf now?) in a school toilet. Sure, it can happen, but "mutual combat" is no kind of defence, outside of your "Wild West" movies.

Anybody else think "mutual combat", rather than seeking truth and justice, is a fair summation of the American legal system? A highly skeptical European writes.

Apart from that, gay men and lesbians cannot dodge the fact that we have, however unwittingly, played a part in creating the "gender monster", and, aside from doing personal penance, must mobilize against it. Nostra maxima culpa.
