The Gender Journey Of Simone Biles
A decade ago, the Olympian knew what a woman is. When did she forget?
Gymnast Simone Biles exploded onto the scene in 2013 at sixteen, the age when most American girls are just old enough to get a driver’s license. She was already world champion before her outstanding performance at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Her biography included time in foster care as a child, so from the beginning, Biles was presented to the public as the tough-luck kid who had overcome the odds.
In that heady moment when she was winning everything and still on her way to Olympic greatness, Biles knew what a woman is. No one had to explain the sports performance differences of the human sex binary to her. Biles could admit that she was unable to perform male-specific gymnastic events, such as the rings, because she is female, and female bodies are different from male bodies.
Indeed, Simone Biles was exactly the right age to fully appreciate the difference between male and female bodies. She explicitly acknowledged sex difference while suggesting that male bodies are perhaps attractive to her in ways that female bodies are not, i.e. Biles seemingly exhibited a perfectly normal, natural, sex-specific romantic sense of attraction at the time.
Even after winning her first gold medals in Rio, Biles evidently understood that letting male bodies compete in female sports is patently unfair to women, i.e. sex discrimination. Less than five feet tall, Biles had not yet adopted fashionable denialism of human sex difference in sports.
But politics had begun to affect Biles. Embarrassed by the exposure of their state sports doping regime in 2014, the Kremlin used a hacking group called Fancy Bear to penetrate the World Doping Agency in search of dirt. Biles’s records were leaked and Russian media accused her of doping. Biles, who was on ADHD medication, disclosed her condition and continued on to Rio. However, she remained a frequent target of Russian propaganda attacks, potentially shifting her politics.
We do not know what exactly made Simone Biles forget that women and men are divergent human sexes, or the exact moment when she forgot it, but political radicalization has almost certainly played a role.
There are some obvious influences: fears about Russian propaganda, Black Lives Matter, and Covid polarized American politics in 2020, with the pandemic leading to the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics. Biles withdrew from that competition in 2021 because she was experiencing “the twisties,” a common neurological condition in gymnasts that was mischaracterized across the media as a “mental health” issue.
At the time, there was a visible partisan difference of opinion on the matter. Conservatives saw her as an example of progressive values allowing young people to fail themselves. They called her a “quitter” and were accused of “unhinged attacks” in response. Her critics were of course all just racists being “cruel” to Simone because she is black, according to the legacy media ecosystem.
Bear in mind that ‘mental health’ is coded left these days. Identitarian politics are couched in mental health language, indeed diagnostic identities (‘neuroatypical’) are all the rage among the progressive youth generation. Biles herself belongs to the Ritalin generation.
In 2021, author J.D. Vance, who was planning to run for Senator from Ohio the next year, told Fox News in reference to Biles that “I think it reflects pretty poorly on our sort of therapeutic society that we try to praise people, not for moments of strength, not for moments of heroism, but for their weakest moments.”
His comment was resurrected by Democratic media operatives when Trump picked Vance as his running-mate in 2024. Biles has been politicized and partizanized as a public figure for years, which brings us to the present day.
“You’re truly sick, all of this campaigning because you lost a race,” Biles quote-tweeted Riley Gaines on Friday. “Straight up sore loser.” This is false: Gaines tied Lia Thomas, whereupon the NCAA awarded the trophy to the man, because what Gaines experienced was patent sex discrimination.
Biles is very put out because Gaines is on the wrong team. “You should be uplifting the trans community and perhaps finding a way to make sports inclusive OR creating a new avenue where trans feel safe in sports,” Biles sneered. “Maybe a transgender category IN ALL sports!! But instead… You bully them… One things [sic] for sure is no one in sports is safe with you around!!!!!”
Riley Gaines is not safe to be around, Biles says, because she has the wrong politics. Gaines is apparently supposed to spend her energy creating a transgender category in sports. Biles was quickly informed in replies that such third sports categories have been routinely offered to male ‘transgender’ athletes, who always reject them — because those men are chasing a paraphilic ‘affirmation’ high rather than a performance high. Biles of course did not reply to anyone.
Her tweet did however receive tens of thousands of ‘likes’ from a concentrated push by progressive social media engineers coordinating on Bluesky. Though as Leor Sapir of the Manhattan Institute noted, some Bluesky users were quick to accuse Biles, a black woman, of … endorsing segregation!
Biles may be a champion, and she may even be a champion of progressive values, but she is guilty of wrongthink, requiring further leftist struggle and education. Gender communism is the most demanding kind of all:
Clearly, Simone Biles is the worst sort of person, and no one is safe around her, either. Why, she is literally a Ku Klux Klan neo-Nazi white supremacist South African farmer, with that terrible opinion.
At best, Simone Biles is now ‘problematic’ for the progressive left. She has complicated their plans for totalitarian cultural domination, so there have to be consequences.
The gender ideology journey of Simone Biles has ended at hate speech. She is now an evil TERF bigot transphobe, morally as repugnant as Riley Gaines to the genderwoo cult.
Biles understood her political role was to call for kindness to the ‘world’s most marginalized community’ of males cheating in female sports. She knew that she had to say they deserve protection and affirmation, but she did not realize that her intended role was to surrender women’s sports to them.
“This is actually so disappointing. It's not my job or the job of any woman to figure out how to include men in our spaces,” Gaines responded on X. “You can uplift men stealing championships in women's sports with YOUR platform. Men don't belong in women's sports and I say that with my full chest.”
Riley Gaines, like the swing voters who reelected Donald Trump, started out in the middle and she has not changed her view. Rather, they gravitated towards Trump because the Democratic Party got married to the sacred political cause of Lia Thomas cheating at women’s sports, repelling the normie voter.
Simone Biles is the one who has changed her opinion on males in female sports, and likely for political reasons, some time in the last decade. It’s just too bad she was never trained for the verbal gymnastics of transgender sports ‘inclusion’ advocacy, otherwise she might have avoided being labeled a horrible, terrible TERF.
The Democratic Party Civil War Makes It Even Harder To Give Up Genderwoo
Democrats are at war over the future of the party, making them even more resistant to hearing concerns about their sacred progressive cows, such as ‘gender identity’ ideology. From Washington, DC to Maine to Colorado to California, Democrats have doubled-down on imposing the genderwoo program from the top, wherever they have power. This virtue-signalling is oppositional to Donald Trump, for Democrats lack a consensus leader and the one thing they can agree on is opposing him.
"Biles was quickly informed in replies that such third sports categories have been routinely offered to male ‘transgender’ athletes, who always reject them"
One imagines they'd disappear halfway through their routine if there were no women around to validate them.
